Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 12 June 2025 | Effective Date: 12 June 2025
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following words carry the meanings assigned to them:
- "Jarum Seri" / "we" / "us" / "our" refers to the watch repair workshop operating at No. 15, Jalan SS2/24, 47300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
- "You" / "Customer" refers to any person who submits an enquiry through our website, drops off a watch for repair, or otherwise engages our services.
- "Services" refers to watch repair, cleaning, regulation, and cosmetic work as described on our website or discussed with you in person.
- "Watch" or "Piece" refers to the timepiece or related item you bring to us for assessment or repair.
- "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions as read alongside the written assessment and pricing confirmation provided before repair work begins.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an enquiry through our website, dropping off a watch at our workshop, or providing verbal or written authorisation for repair work, you indicate that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a service agreement. If you are acting on behalf of someone else, you warrant that you have their authorisation to do so.
3. Service Description
Jarum Seri provides watch repair and maintenance services for mechanical and automatic timepieces. Our current services include movement cleaning and regulation, crown and pusher repair, and full cosmetic refits. Services are provided at our Petaling Jaya workshop and are primarily available to customers in Malaysia.
We reserve the right to decline a repair job if, on assessment, the work falls outside our capabilities or if the watch requires specialised attention from the manufacturer or an authorised service centre.
4. Repair Process and Authorisation
- Every watch is inspected on arrival and logged with a receipt.
- We will provide a written assessment and a firm price before any repair work begins.
- Work only commences once you have provided explicit authorisation — verbally, in writing, or by email.
- If unexpected issues are found during a repair, we will contact you to discuss options before proceeding. We will not carry out additional work without your agreement.
- If you choose not to proceed after receiving the assessment, your watch will be returned to you as received, at no charge.
5. Your Responsibilities
- You represent that you own the watch or are authorised to have it repaired on behalf of the owner.
- Please inform us of any known fragility, prior repairs, or relevant history of the piece at the time of drop-off.
- You are responsible for collecting your watch within thirty days of notification that the repair is complete. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you. Watches uncollected beyond sixty days may be subject to a storage fee.
- Please use our website and contact channels appropriately and avoid submitting false enquiries.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Jarum Seri website — including text, images, and design — is the property of Jarum Seri or its licensors and is protected under Malaysian intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content commercially without prior written permission.
7. Pricing and Payment
All prices are displayed in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. The price agreed in writing before work begins is the price you will be charged at collection, provided the scope of work does not change.
Payment is due at the time of collection. We currently accept cash and standard bank transfer. If the scope of work changes during a repair (due to unexpected findings you have been notified of and authorised), an updated price will be confirmed with you in writing.
We do not offer refunds for completed repair work where the service has been carried out as authorised and described. If you believe a repair has not met the agreed scope, please contact us promptly so we can assess and address the concern.
8. Service-Specific Terms
Movement Cleaning & Regulation: We will advise on expected accuracy outcomes based on the movement's condition. Older movements may settle into a slightly different rate over time following service; this is normal and does not constitute a defect in our work.
Crown & Pusher Repair: Replacement parts used will be compatible equivalents where original manufacturer parts are unavailable. We will inform you of this before proceeding.
Full Cosmetic Refit: Cosmetic outcomes are discussed and agreed with you before work begins. We do not carry out case polishing or surface work beyond what has been specifically agreed.
9. Disclaimers
Our services are provided with reasonable care and skill. However, watch repair involves inherent unpredictability, particularly with older or previously repaired movements. We cannot guarantee specific timekeeping results beyond the parameters achievable by the movement in its current condition.
We are not an authorised service centre for any watch brand. For watches under manufacturer warranty or requiring brand-specific work, we recommend contacting the manufacturer or their authorised representatives.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, our liability for any loss or damage arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the specific repair in question.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss — including loss of sentimental value, loss of use, or loss arising from a watch's pre-existing condition. We will take all reasonable precautions, but we cannot accept liability for pre-existing fragilities that were not disclosed to us or that were not apparent upon reasonable inspection.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jarum Seri from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms, including from inaccurate information you provided about the watch or your ownership of it.
12. Termination
Either party may withdraw from a repair arrangement before work has commenced without penalty, subject to any agreed assessment fee. Once authorised work has begun, you may request that we stop; in such cases, you will be responsible for any costs incurred to that point, including parts ordered.
13. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. In the event of a dispute, we encourage you to contact us directly at [email protected] so we can attempt to resolve the matter informally. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be referred to the courts of Malaysia having jurisdiction over Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Malaysian consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 1999, continues to apply where relevant.
14. General Provisions
These Terms, together with any written assessment and repair authorisation, constitute the entire agreement between you and Jarum Seri in respect of your repair. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.
